Two Easy Grants for Temporary Traffic Control Devices

The Vermont Local Roads Program is offering two grants to support worker safety on municipal roads. The grant funds are provided through the Vermont Local Roads budget with partnership through the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Both grants are due by 2 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 (Memorial Day). 

Municipal Temporary Lighting Award Program

Eligible Activities:  Purchase of a temporary traffic lighting package (flagger assist, temporary light).

Min/Max Funding:  Up to $10,000

Number of Awards Anticipated:  One

Municipal Sign Package Award Program

Eligible Activities:  Purchase of compliant safety equipment for temporary work zones. The sign package must include:

  • Six (6) sign stands,
  • Two (2) Road Work Ahead signs,
  • Two (2) Be Prepared to Stop signs,
  • Two (2) Flagger Ahead Symbol signs,
  • Two (2) lighted Stop/Slow paddles, and
  • Fifteen (15) 28-inch cones with retroreflective bands.

Min/Max Funding:  None included. Will be negotiated after award.

These grants are funded with federal funds, and federal purchasing/procurement rules apply. 

All municipalities that accepted a Local ARPA award are registered with SAM.gov. Check with the Clerk/Treasurer for your municipality's number. Do not create a new SAM.gov account or your municipality's current account will be frozen, affecting its ARPA award and any other federal grants.
