Vermont Regional Commissions Receive County-Specific Grants for Energy Efficiency

Vermont's regional commissions successfully appealed to the U.S. Department of Energy for ARRA dollars that in other states were allocated to counties. Details here.


Energy Efficiency Block Grants

Vermont should receive $5,756,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for grants to municipalities. More information is available here.


Fire Station Construction Grants

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program

Over $2.7 billion in formula grants is now available to U.S. states, territories, local governments, and Indian tribes under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, funded under ARRA. The Department of Energy has revised and expanded the EECBG website, www.eecbg.energy.gov/. It features a new online Solution Center with best practices and information resources for each eligible activity under the program www.eecbg.energy.gov/solutioncenter/eligibleactivities/. You can also find free EECBG webcasts, both past and upcoming, on the website.


Municipal Economic Recovery Projects

In October 2008, VLCT began to compile a list of transportation, water, wastewater, energy efficiency, and general infrastructure projects that are potentially eligible for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Scores of cities and towns have suggested possible municipal projects, which now total nearly $1 billion. Projects on this list may be funded with ARRA dollars, if eligible. Many projects will not be funded, despite the need that this list clearly demonstrates. (updated 5-28-09)
