The Lake Champlain Sea Grant Program is offering a new course entitled Sustainable Landscape Stewards: Natural Aquatic Systems for community leaders, municipal employees, watershed organizations, and concerned citizens. Students will gain an understanding of watershed science and how land use and increased storm events impact our water resources. Topic experts will provide in-depth coverage of lake, river, and wetland processes and conditions. State and federal water quality regulations will be addressed with a focus on municipal planning and optimal property management. Participants will learn how to access online resources and tools related to hazard resiliency, state guidelines, and other valuable information.

The course will be held on Wednesday evenings from September 21 to October 19, 2016 (with one Saturday morning field trip). It is approved for 1.25 University of Vermont Continuing Education Credits. Sessions will be held in the Burlington area.
