Town Fair 2011

The 2011 Town Fair is scheduled for Thursday, October 6 at the Killington grand Hotel in Killington.

Town Fair is the Annual Conference of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns.  This annual event encompasses member training, annual meetings (VLCT, PACIF and UI) as well as an exhibitor trade show.  This event is moved around the state between the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds in Essex and the Killington Grand Hotel in Killington.

Watch this page for updates and information as they become available.

Town Fair 2010

... took place on October 7 at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds in Essex Junction. Documentation from the workshops and seminars -- which is surprisingly sparse, unfortunately -- follows.

In Responding to a Public Records Request, Senior Staff Attorney Jim Barlow explained how the Vermont Public Records Act was in essence a balancing act. He also documented the steps one needs to take in responding to such a request.

The Power of Pooling workshop demonstrated how risk sharing pools have provided superior service and significant savings to Vermont municipalities for years.

What happens when a municipality has no internal financial controls? Preventing Fraud through Good Financial Controls answered the question and also demonstrated how to avoid potential fraud and financial errors.

Finally, here is a photo collage of Town Fair 2010.

See the right hand column for links to documentation from previous Town Fairs.
