The best health insurance you can buy is not what you pay for—it's what you do for yourself. – Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D., M.P.H.
The VLCT Health Trust is committed to promoting a wellness culture in its member organizations and healthy behavior by individual subscribers. Several programs are available that interact to support this commitment, with financial and physical payoffs.
The Healthy Lifestyle Rewards program pays $50-$100 to subscribers and their covered spouses who show they are living healthily. To participate, refer to the instructions and other resources provided below. In the Wellness Leader program, which pays up to 4% of annual rates to members that record how they support their employees’ wellbeing, a Wellness Coordinator at each member municipality is trained and administers the program from January through December. VLCT then evaluates the reported results, determines the reward levels, and distributes checks in January. Every year, VLCT also offers two challenges that provide daily and weekly support and encouragement for health-conscious subscribers.
The League's wellness programs are described more fully in the overview provided in the Resources list below. After reading this, if you have any questions about VLCT’s wellness programs, contact Shawna O'Neill, Administrative Assistant, Risk Management Services.
