Traffic Safety Competitive Grants

The Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) is pleased to announce traffic safety competitive grant opportunities for federal Fiscal Year 2013. GHSP distributes federal funding apportioned to Vermont from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Grants are used to improve existing traffic safety program performance, expand on going activities, or develop a new program across the spectrum of prevention programming. Grants will be awarded October 1, 2012, to be completed by September 30, 2013. Political "subdivisions" of state, local city, and county government agencies, colleges and universities, school districts, hospitals and certain non-profit organizations are eligible to receive traffic safety grant funding.

GHSP staff will conduct a workshop on applying for these funds, grant requirements, reporting procedures and answer questions related to the grant process on Tuesday, May 22 from 1:30-4:00 p.m. at the Vermont State Police Barracks in Williston. To qualify for a grant, a designee from an applicant agency must attend the workshop. Further, participants must pre-register for the workshop by Friday, May 11, to allow time for GHSP to prepare workshop materials. Grant application packets will be available only at the workshop. The deadline for grant submission is June 22, 2012.
