The implementation of Vermont Health Connect (VHC) as of January 1, 2014 brought many changes to health insurance in Vermont, including the fact that most of the municipalities that used to offer major medical insurance to their employees through the VLCT Health Trust now must arrange for VHC-approved coverage directly with either BlueCross/BlueShield of Vermont or MVP. Nonetheless, VLCT staff members remain very knowledgable about the health insurance field, and we continue to serve and strengthen Vermont local governments with our consultation and information services. Any VLCT member group is welcome to call for help in understanding health insurance coverage or funding as well as Medicaid and related topics. If we can't answer your questions ourselves, we can help put you on the right track.
For 2016, Vermont municipalities with more than 100 employees who are eligible for health insurance ("large groups") can purchase major medical insurance through the VERB Trust and receive access to VLCT's on-site health screenings and flu shot clinics. Because these groups should conduct all of their enrollment activities and other paperwork directly with their carrier, we no longer post carriers' forms on our website.
Whether for large group insurance or smaller group assistance, please call 1-800-649-7915 and speak with Larry Smith, Manager, Member Relations (or email him at email@example.com), or Kelley Avery, Health Benefit Programs Administrator (or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org).
