The Town of Norwich, Vermont, is accepting applications for the temporary position of Patrol Officer for up to one year with the possibility of an extension while the community discusses policing and searches for its next Police Chief. We seek energetic, community-oriented, positive professionals, with a strong desire to provide quality police services to a community on the move.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess exceptional moral character and a strong work ethic, and be certified or able to obtain certification as a police officer (part-time or full-time) by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council (VCJTC). Applicants must also pass a thorough background check, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job.

The Norwich Police Department offers a competitive starting wage for full-time officers, including a benefits package of medical, dental, life, disability, retirement, sick time, vacation, and personal time. Uniforms and police equipment are provided.
