VLCT and the National League of Cities are offering free online-virtual diversity, equity and inclusion training to VLCT members. The three-part training provides members with the basics of NLC’s Race, Equity, and Leadership (R.E.A.L.) training program aimed at eliminating racial disparities, healing racial divisions and building more equitable communities. Online trainings are scheduled for June 21, June 28, and July 14. Members who participate should plan to attend all three trainings.
This webinar is part of REAL’s 100 series that focuses on normalizing a shared understanding on the history of institutional and structural racism in America. The content provides leaders with a shared language for racial equity, examines existing racial disparities in cities and the implication for advancing racial equity, and introduce important concepts and tools for organizing and operationalizing racial equity.
Note that the two introductory trainings will be permanently archived via video, so any member may take them at their convenience. The third town hall event will not be available, but that shouldn’t deter anyone from taking the first two trainings.
