Human resources (HR) functions and tasks can vary widely and several types of municipal officials may be responsible for carrying them out depending on the government’s structure. Examples of HR functions include, but are not limited to: recruitment and hiring support, benefits and payroll administration, training and development and performance management.
MAC provides members guidance and resources on a number of these and other HR topics through the Resource Library, the VLCT Newsletter, onsite trainings and workshops, and policy review services.

Join! Vermont Municipal Human Resources Group
VLCT has initiated a no-cost learning and networking opportunity for municipal officials and employees who deal with various aspects of HR. The group meets in the spring and the autumn to discuss employment-related legislation and “hot topics,” share resources and best practices, and network with peers.
Meeting locations rotate among town offices in both northern and southern Vermont and are limited to two to three hours to allow participants time to return to their busy schedules.
