June 4, 2020 – Cybercrime poses a significant risk to municipalities, as they are frequent targets for a wide range of email scams. Training employees to recognize phishing and other social engineering emails is one of the most effective methods to mitigate this risk. In light of this, PACIF has negotiated a limited-time 25% discount with KnowBe4 exclusively for PACIF members.

KnowBe4 is the world’s largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform. They help their client organizations reduce their vulnerability to ransomware, malware, and other data breaches by providing short, online cyber risk training modules to their employees every month or two to build phishing recognition skills and reinforce email and system security best practices. KnowBe4 can also send simulated phishing emails to test how well employees identify “suspicious” emails. This service includes administrative reports so the employer can see which employees mistakenly click on the simulated phishing emails. This information can then be used by the employer to provide those employees with additional training. VLCT currently uses both services to help mitigate the League’s own cyber risk.

Until July 31, 2020, PACIF members with 25 or more email users can get a 25% discount on standard pricing for a one-year contract at any level of service. An additional discount of 20% applies to three-year contracts. Members with fewer than 25 email users are only eligible for the Diamond service level with a three-year contract for a total price of $1,770. For more information on the various service levels and price per email account, see the PDF attached below and visit the KnowBe4 website or contact Tiffany Yeager at KnowBe4. This preferred pricing offer is available through July 31, 2020 and is only for new KnowBe4 clients*.

ALSO: Up to 50% of the annual cost for the KnowBe4 service – up to $500 – is eligible for a PACIF Grant on a one-time basis this year until funds are exhausted. Contact Adam Davis, adavis@vlct.org, for details.

PACIF believes that KnowBe4 offers a cost-effective way to regularly deliver cybercrime prevention training to your computer users. Although municipal budgets are tighter than ever, we urge each member to consider the potential costs of a “cyber event” compared to the modest cost of this risk control program. PACIF Loss Control consultants have been using the KnowBe4 product for nearly two years and will be happy to share their experiences with you.

* Although this discount is specifically for new users of KnowBe4, we encourage members who are already paying a standard rate for this service to contact KnowBe4 and request the discounted price when their current contract expires. Tiffany Yeager is the primary point of contact for all questions and inquiries. She can be reached at tiffanyy@knowbe4.com  or 727-877-8226.
