VLCT PACIF membership includes access to dozens of online safety and human resources courses through PACIF Online University, an excellent tool for making sure everyone gets consistent information – and for documenting that fact.
- A great supplement to in-person trainings
- Each course generally takes 30-60 minutes to complete
- Courses can be taken at whatever time and internet-enabled location is convenient for each user.
- If necessary, the user can log off in the middle of a course and resume it later.
- Employers can assign courses to any or all employees, check on their progress at any time, and run reports about the group's progress.
Courses are bundled into seven job-based Workplace Colleges: Police, Fire and EMS, Public Works, Parks & Rec, Water and Wastewater*, Admin & Office, and Solid Waste. Each college includes several core courses (such as Stress Management and New Employee Orientation) and others that are specific to the job category (such as Arc Flash Awareness for Public Works). When employees create their user account (login and password), they also select the workplace college that most closely matches their job. Later, they click on that college to log in and access their assigned courses and completion records. *Some courses can count as Continuing Education Units (CEUs) toward Vermont state Water and Wastewater Operator certifications.
Members that use PACIF Online University to deliver certain courses to a large number of employees find it best to assign a staff member to administer the program. Many smaller municipalities just have their employees register and guide themselves. Manuals for both are available below and in our website's Resource Library. Note that PACIF Online U courses can be taken on any computer that has internet access and is equipped with Flash and Java. Please contact your IT administrator to install these programs, which are available from Adobe.com and Java.com, respectively.
Use the link below to get to the PACIF Online University website. Employees who already have an account can log in and pick up where they left off. New users need to click on "New user registration" then set up their account and select their Workplace College. If you encounter any difficulty or need to have your site administrator re-assigned, please email our Loss Control staff.
