VERMONT LEAGUE OF CITIES AND TOWNS
Nominating Committee Meeting
Friday, September 9, 2022
Present: Winooski City Manager Jessie Baker, Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger, Danville Selectman Ken Linsley, West Rutland Town Manager Mary Ann Goulette, VLCT Executive Director Ted Brady
The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by Jessie Baker, chair.
Mary Ann Goulette moved to accept the agenda, Ken Linsley seconded. The motion was unanimously adopted.
The nominating committee then considered recommending a slate of five directors for the October 2022 elections. The committee learned that all five of the directors currently up for re-election are eligible for re-election, and that four of the five have expressed interest in seeking re-election. One director, George Putnam, does not intend to run for the board again. The committee then reviewed nominations on hand to fill Putnam’s seat. The committee reviewed the applications/nominations on hand from the April 2022 nomination process and August 2021 nomination process. There were no nominations on hand from the August 2022 call for nominations. The committee also considered renominating Hartford Treasurer Joe Major (first elected to the board in October 2021), who recently departed the VLCT Board when he left the Hartford Selectboard.
Miro Weinberger motioned to recommend the Board nominate the following slate of directors during the October 2022 elections, and Mary Ann Goulette seconded:
Julie Hance, Town Manager, Town of Chester
Ann Lawless, Selectboard Chair, Town of Wheelock
Ken Linsley, Selectboard Member, Town of Danville
David Allaire, Mayor, City of Rutland
Joe Major, Treasurer, Town of Hartford
The motion was unanimously adopted.
Mary Ann Goulette motioned to recommend the Board nominate South Burlington City Manager Jessi Baker to serve as president and Montpelier City Manager Bill Fraser as vice president of the VLCT Board of Directors in 2023. The motion was unanimously adopted.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:11 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by Ted Brady.
