September 15, 2026

Municipal officials and state legislators are invited to visit drinking water and wastewater facilities across Vermont during Water Quality Week, September 21–25, 2026.

These tours are an opportunity to see the infrastructure that protects public health and the environment every day. Meet the people who operate these systems, learn how they work, and hear about the challenges they face.

Water and wastewater systems play an important role in many community issues. During a tour, you may learn about:

  • aging infrastructure and future investment needs,
  • housing growth and development,
  • emergency response and preparedness,
  • staffing and workforce challenges, and
  • the long-term capacity of local systems.

Vermont Rural Water, the Green Mountain Water Environment Association, and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation are leading Water Quality Week to help state and local decision-makers better understand these systems and the people who operate them.

Find a tour near you and join the conversation. Review the participating facilities below for tour dates, times, and RSVP information.
