Around April 8, 2024, Vermont communities could be hosting a lot of tourists because part of the state is in the path of totality of a solar eclipse. Our state government has been meeting with regional and local partners to plan for everything from emergency management to parking, things to do, places to eat, local events, and more.
- The state site is www.vermontvacation.com/plan-your-visit/events/2024-total-solar-eclipse-in-vermont.
- Main Street America (a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation) is hosting a webinar on Wednesday 11/15 at 3 PM.
- On Thursday 11/16 at 9–11 AM the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing is hosting a meeting where you can learn about the eclipse, discuss how to prepare for it, and start developing action plans.
We encourage communities to think about this special celestial event and plan accordingly. It will happen no matter what, and although nobody can really know how many visitors to expect, many hotels are already booked, and our state government is planning for tens of thousands of visitors.
