VLCT’s Local Officials Golf Outing sold out again this year, featuring 88 golfers from St. Albans to Guilford at Vermont’s only 18-hole municipally owned golf course – Green Mountain National in Killington on Friday, June 26. The generosity of sponsors and prize donors helped raise more than $6,000 for the Municipal Service Scholarship fund.

Vernon Recreation Department employee Elizabeth Brown was likely standing guard at the Vernon town pool last Friday while municipal leaders, their guests, and VLCT vendors competed and contributed to the fund that will help her attend her second year at the University of Vermont. Brown received a $2,000 scholarship from the fund earlier this summer.

Trevor Sullivan, Wayne Sullivan, Michael Chartrand, and David Morse – the VRS Disability Management team (shown in the featured photo) – won the tournament by notching a nine under par. Defending 2025 champions from Richmond – Chuck Gilroy, Delina Gilroy, Denise Barnard, and Mike Barnard – came in second, with seven under par. And the hardworking men of Barre Town – Town Manager Chris Violette, Brad Morse, Joshua Martineau, and Adam Crawford – came in third place, matching the seven under. The tie led to a card comparison that showed a slightly better game from Richmond.

Tim Burns, golfing with longtime golf outing participant and VLCT friend Michael Kilfoyle, notched an ace on hole number five.

New for 2026, Travelers BoilerRe, a reinsurer for VLCT PACIF, donated four passes to watch the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut. Barre Town Public Works Director Joshua Martineau and Essex Town’s Loren Ward each won two passes and were able to attend one of the PGA’s signature competitions – and watch the showdown between Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland on Sunday.
