Registration for the Vermont Local Government Institute is now open. This eight-course certificate program is designed to help municipal and local government managers and assistant managers gain the essential skills to lead their teams and support their communities.
The program was developed in partnership between the UVM Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), the Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT), and the Vermont Town and City Management Association (VTCMA). It is free to qualified applicants thanks to a generous grant from UVM’s Leahy Institute for Rural Partnerships.
“Leading a municipal government requires understanding municipal law, having great people management skills, and having a network of other municipal leaders to call on when you have questions. The Vermont Local Government Institute will provide new managers and administrators, and those aspiring to become a manager or administrator, with the foundational knowledge and relationships to be successful.” Ted Brady, Executive Director, Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT)
The first class in the program will meet September 5th, with following classes scheduled throughout the fall. All class sessions will be virtual with the exception of the first. Information, including courses, application requirements, and registration, is available at learn.uvm.edu/employer-partnerships/VLCT/. Contact Maureen Hebert at Maureen.hebert@uvm.edu with questions.
