The Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) will award a Vermonter pursuing – or already in — municipal service a $2,000 educational scholarship next year. The scholarship will be funded from proceeds of the VLCT Local Officials Golf Outing, the upcoming Casino Night at Town Fair, and other events throughout the year.

The VLCT Municipal Service Scholarship was established by VLCT in May to encourage Vermonters to serve in a city, town, or village government. VLCT has partnered with the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), which will administer the scholarship with its 2024-2025 academic year scholarships for Vermont residents. To qualify, applicants must be a Vermont municipal employee, a Vermont municipal official (elected or appointed), or a dependent child age 26 or younger of a Vermont municipal official or employee. Applicants must also intend to work in municipal government and plan to attend an accredited school in Vermont. Applications will be available in the winter of 2023-2024 through VSAC.
