At a time when funding uncertainty and changing requirements have added complexities to the application and award process, the National League of Cities is offering grant-related bootcamps and workshops beginning September 2025. Attend one or more of these free learning opportunities to build your grant writing or grant management muscles.

Bootcamps are multi-week, cohort-based learning programs. Participants have access to subject-matter experts, data resources, office hours, individualized coaching sessions, and peer-to-peer learning to engage with experts and other applicants from peer cities going through the same program.

Workshops deliver support on an infrastructure funding opportunity in a virtual, half-day session. Participants gain grant-specific guidance on high-value federal funding opportunities and learn how to navigate application requirements, align projects with funding criteria, and strengthen implementation readiness. Participants will also have access to office hours with subject-matter experts.

Upcoming Learning Opportunities Include
  • Grant Implementation, Compliance and Management Bootcamp: If your municipality has already secured federal funds, this bootcamp will provide expert guidance to help manage your project and ensure efficient, successful implementation of your grant. Whether you're preparing an RFP, finalizing a grant agreement, or waiting to hear from the federal agency, you’ll receive structured, hands-on support to help you take the next step. To enroll in this bootcamp, your municipality must have been awarded a federal infrastructure grant since 2022. Dates are TBD.
  • Brownfields Workshop: Grant funding for communities seeking site assessment, cleanup, or multipurpose grants for brownfield sites – which are sites with known or possible contamination from prior use. This workshop will take place on Oct 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM E.T.
  • Rail Infrastructure (RCE/CRISI) Workshop: Secure funding for rail projects that improve safety and mobility by addressing rail crossings, track relocation, and other rail infrastructure needs. This workshop will take place on Sep 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM E.T.
  • Clean Energy Tax Credits – Elective Pay Workshop: Major changes in federal funding mean this may be one of the last opportunities for government entities to access direct payments for clean energy investments. This workshop will explain how communities can take advantage of the elective pay system and develop clean energy projects. This workshop will take place on Sep 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM E.T.
  • Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Workshop: Grant funding for street and railroad safety projects that protect residents and improve transportation infrastructure. This workshop will take place on Dec 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM E.T.

Registration for these trainings is now open! All trainings are free and open to municipal employees.
