VLCT has learned of the recent release of a new report from the people who created the Dignity Index.
Building a Culture of Dignity: Insights from the 2026 Dignity Barometer, Related Research, and Practice is a product of Dignity.Us, whose co-founders are Tim Shriver, Tami Pyfer, and Tom Rosshirt. The report includes findings from the first-ever Dignity in America Barometer, a nationally representative survey developed by Dignity.Us and conducted with Hart Research.
Noting three key dignity gaps revealed by the 2026 Dignity Barometer, this report draws on behavioral science, social norms research, and related scholarship to explore why the gaps exist, what keeps them in place, and how they can be narrowed. It also examines how education, practical tools, and cultural change efforts can help people better align their actions with the values they aspire to live by.
