Employee Benefits

How can a small municipality ever hope to afford excellent employee benefits?

By leveraging your VLCT membership, of course! Your statewide pool of similar organizations makes it possible for every VLCT member* to  access a range of desirable employee benefit programs at group rates.

Dental Insurance

This low-cost, high-value group benefit has five plans paid for and administered by the employer. Another option is to make sure employees know they can obtain cost-effective Individual Direct plans through VLCT. Either way, the coverage complements the dental portion of the health insurance plans of Vermont Health Connect (VHC).

Vision Insurance

One plan is specifically for employers to provide as part of their employees' health insurance benefit; two voluntary plans let employees obtain coverage at low group rates paid through payroll deductions.

Life and Disability Insurances

Low rates and excellent coverage for employer-paid life insurance; options for short-term disability, long-term disability, and additional life insurance paid by the employee through payroll deductions.

Pet Health Insurance

New in 2022, optional coverage paid by employees through payroll deductions, with one rate for dogs and another for cats.

* Vermont's cities and towns qualify for full VLCT membership, while other municipal entities – such as villages, fire districts, housing authorities, solid waste districts, and natural resource management districts – must maintain a VLCT Associate membership to obtain these products. Please refer to VLCT's Associate Membership brochure for more information.
