If April 1 falls on the weekend, are we to move the dog license renewal deadline to the Monday immediately after April 1?
The annual deadline for an owner to license their dog or wolf-hybrid is April 1 (24 V.S.A. §3581(a)), and this year April 1 falls on a Saturday. Although state law does specify automatic extensions for certain deadlines when they fall on a weekend or legal holiday (e.g., for filing election related materials or paying taxes), there is no such extension for the annual dog licensing deadline. Accordingly, this year’s deadline will fall on a weekend.
