Save the Date for the Following Vermont Emergency Management Trainings

  1. Register for the 2023 Vermont Emergency Preparedness Conference being held on September 20 & 21 at the Burke Mountain Hotel & Conference Center in East Burke, VT. 
     
  2. ICS-100 Prep- Introduction to Incident Command
    This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require a basic understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS). It introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). 
    THIS IS A PREPARATORY TRAINING - IT DOES NOT PROVIDE ICS 100 QUALIFICATION: IT PREPARES STUDENTS TO TAKE THE ONLINE IS-100 TEST FOR OFFICIAL CREDIT.

  3. K2020 Debris Management Planning for State, Tribal, Territorial, and Local Officials 
    This course will better prepare participants to full plan for, response to, and recover from major debris-management. This course is designed for State, Tribal, Territorial, and local officials who are responsible for planning, managing, and/or implementing debris removal and disposal activities for all types of disasters.

  4. AWR- 362 Flooding Hazards: Science and Preparedness  
    Learn about the current science behind the causes of floods, flood forecasting, flood risk assessment, and best practices for preparation and mitigation for both short- and long-fuse flooding events. Gain a better understanding regarding the factors that contribute to flooding and how they determine flood risk. Enhance your abilities to read and interpret forecasts, watches, and warnings from the National Weather Service and hydrographs from the U.S. Geological Survey. Increase your knowledge of how to plan for properly preparation for sudden flooding, such as flash flooding and dam breaks, and long-use flood events such as river flooding.

  5. L0146 Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP)  
    This course provides a comprehensive overview of exercise design along with practical skill development. Using the same terminology and process, this course will provide activities that will give participants an opportunity to interact with many of the templates and other materials that are provided by the National Exercise Division to ensure exercises are conducted in a consistent manner. Anyone who will be a member of an exercise design team or fulfill a role in one of the following areas of the exercise design process: design, development, conduct, evaluation or improvement process for exercise. The primary audience for the course is training officers, exercise managers, persons that will utilize the exercise and evaluation system, and persons interested in becoming an HSEEP Evaluator for Vermont Emergency Management.

  6. Vermont Local Emergency Management Course  
    This course will familiarize local Emergency Management Directors (EMD) and Coordinators (EMC) with major roles, responsibilities, and “how to do it” guidance, across all four phases of Emergency Management.

  7. ICS 200 Prep- ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents  
    This course is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS. 
    THIS IS A PREPARATORY TRAINING - IT DOES NOT PROVIDE ICS 200 QUALIFICATION, IT PREPARES STUDENTS TO TAKE THE ONLINE IS-200 TEST FOR OFFICIAL CREDIT. ICS 200

  8. AWR- 136 Essentials of Community Cybersecurity  
    This course provides individuals, community leaders, and first responders with information on how cyber-attacks can impact, prevent, and/or stop operations and emergency responses in a community. The course also provides a cursory introduction to cybersecurity vulnerabilities, risks, threats, and countermeasures. It explains vulnerabilities of computer systems and networks and how these vulnerabilities can affect communities, organizations, and daily workplace operations. The course introduces actions communities can take in establishing a cybersecurity program. The course provides participants with an awareness of issues. It gives an overview of threats and vulnerabilities, without going into too many details, to highlight the potential impact a cyber-attack could have. Participants discuss some of the fundamental activities needed to develop a cybersecurity program, without addressing the technical details of how to secure critical infrastructures. The course introduces the Community Cybersecurity Maturity Model (CCSMM) as a framework for understanding community cybersecurity and offers a brief introduction to low-cost or no-cost approaches to securing a community against cybersecurity threats and attacks. The course sets the stage for further efforts in which a community can build a cybersecurity program.

  9. MGT- 384 Community Preparedness for Cyber Incidents  
    This course is designed to provide organizations and communities with strategies and processes to increase cyber resilience. During this 12-hour course, participants will analyze cyber threats and initial and cascading impacts of cyber incidents, evaluate the process for developing a cyber preparedness program, examine the importance and challenges of cyber related information sharing and discover low to no-cost resources to help build cyber resilience.
