This is an advanced announcement of the Vermont Certified Public Manager® (VCPM) program which is open to Municipal employees in Vermont. Applications will be accepted between February 28, 2023 and May 1, 2023. More information and application forms will be available at that time. Until then, you can learn more about the program in the message below.
VCPM is a multi-course learning experience for current and emerging leaders in Vermont Government. The program is designed to be both intellectually challenging and practical, so enrollment is competitive.
The program helps participants develop leadership skills and contribute to the overall effectiveness of state and/or municipal government. The program is a partnership between the Department of Human Resources Workforce Development Division and the University of Vermont.
The two-year curriculum includes an overview of legislative and budgetary processes, business process improvement, and personal leadership style. It supports the development of skills necessary for strategic and workforce planning and culminates in a hands-on consulting project that allows participants to use the analytical and team-building skills developed during the program to address an existing need or problem.
Classes are taught by University of Vermont professors and participants are eligible for 6 credits at UVM. VCPM is accredited by the National Certified Public Manager® Consortium. Graduates may join the American Academy of Certified Public Managers® for opportunities to enrich their professional development.
