Employers are required by VOSHA to evaluate and control sources of potential energy that may be present during various equipment maintenance tasks, including those associated with vehicle maintenance. The first link below is to PACIF's 9-page guide to help members establish their own Energy Control Program for Vehicle Maintenance as part of their workplace safety regimen. As the guide explains, templates for the comprehensive program materials are available upon request from PACIF Loss control staff. PACIF members can also adapt these templates to assess non-vehicle maintenance tasks that expose employees to uncontrolled hazardous energy and develop LOTO procedures for these tasks.

The second link below is the OSHA manual on controlling hazardous energy in the workplace.

PACIF members may always reach out to their PACIF Loss Control Consultant for individual assistance in developing workplace safety programs.
