
VTBuys (via the Vermont Office of Purchasing a Contracting, a division of the Department of Buildings and General Services) wishes to convey the following information to its suppliers.
To the Vermont Supplier Community,
Thank you for your continued partnership as product and service suppliers for the State of Vermont. As we announced several weeks ago, VTBuys – the State’s new streamlined and centralized procurement system – will launch on July 1.
Please remember, like every year, payments to suppliers are not made during the last couple of weeks of June while our Financial System, Vision, is shut down for Year End closeout. Our goal is to issue payments on day one, however with any new system implementation unforeseen delay is a possibility. All payments will be issued no later than July 7.
VTBuys will replace Vermont's existing manual system for suppliers who have contracts with the State of Vermont. It will be the primary platform to do business with the State of Vermont. It does not affect suppliers who only have grants. Grants will be handled the way they always have been.
Please know, our top priority is to ensure a smooth transition for the Vermont supplier community. Our support will include direct training, as well as a range of training resources.
Specific tools to expect, and some important project updates, are included below.

- Please respond to all requests for information from the State as soon as possible to ensure your supplier account is ready to go when VTBuys rolls out. Suppliers who are currently doing business with the State should have received an email confirming their contact information.
- VTBuys registration will be open to new suppliers after VTBuys goes live July 1. Until then, you can monitor current bid opportunities and see past bidders at https://bgs.vermont.gov/purchasing/bids. Current statewide contracts are available at Contracts - Current Statewide Contract Information | Buildings and General Services (vermont.gov).

Project Updates
- VTBuys Supplier Webpage is currently in development, however a preview will be available on VT Buys - Supplier | Buildings and General Services beginning June 16.
- Supplier Training to start June 16. We will reach out to industry associations for training opportunities. In addition, general information will be available on the website on or before June 16.
- Format: In-person sessions, recorded webinars and videos accessible through the VTBuys YouTube channel.
- Supplier Training Materials: A variety of training resources will be offered to make sure you are able to use VTBuys effectively. Our goal is to provide different learning opportunities and ensure you have the support you need for success.
Key Dates
- June 13 at 3 p.m. – June 30: Suppliers should be aware that State agencies and departments will be unable to enter procurement related transactions, including contract payments during this period.
