Sunday, February 1, 2026, is the last day for selectboards to warn their town meetings! Although this warning deadline falls on a Sunday, the deadline is not automatically extended to Monday. *
Most towns will need to post their Town Meeting warnings on Friday, January 30, 2026, unless they plan on posting over the weekend.
The warning and notice must be posted in two public places and (or near) the town clerk’s office. It must also be posted on the town’s official website if it is regularly updated). 17 V.S.A. § 2641(a), (b).
*This rule only applies to filing election related documents (e.g., petitions, consent forms, etc.) with towns, not with posting requirements.
