New Location of Montpelier Post Office

April 22, 2024

City Center

Joint Statement of Ted Brady, Executive Director, VLCT and
Bill Fraser, Montpelier City Manager and President, VLCT Board of Directors

The Vermont League of Cities and Towns is subleasing approximately 5,000 square feet of its offices in City Center in Montpelier to the United States Postal Service (USPS). The lease, effective from April 1, 2024, to April 1, 2026, will allow the post office to re-establish its crucial downtown Montpelier retail presence. We at VLCT are glad to be able to play a role in returning this vital community service to Montpelier.

VLCT will retain approximately 7,000 square feet through the end of our lease in December 2026. There will be no interruption of services for VLCT members. Renovations on the post office’s portion of the space, which will be accessible from East State Street, will begin in mid-May. The USPS has stated that they hope to open in early summer. The USPS tenancy will not interfere with the current location of the Montpelier Food Pantry, which began subleasing space from VLCT in City Center last year.
